St. Augustine’s College has officially secured its place in the Grand Finale of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz following a thrilling semi-final victory on Thursday, September 3. In what was widely anticipated as a massive clash of academic titans, the two-time champions delivered a masterclass performance to completely outshine their rivals.

Competing in the first semi-final contest of the day, Augusco faced off against fellow heavyweights Prempeh College and Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary. All three schools entered the stage with significant momentum from their respective quarter-final wins, but it was St. Augustine’s who ultimately dominated the spotlight.

By the end of the highly competitive showdown, St. Augustine’s College amassed an impressive 52 points to claim the sole ticket from their group to the finals. Prempeh College pushed hard but finished closely behind with 47 points, while Pope John SHS ended the contest in third place with 28 points. This dominant display sent both Prempeh College and Pope John SHS packing, effectively ending their championship dreams for the year.

Supporters of Augusco and APSU erupted in massive celebrations as the school moved one step closer to clinching their much-desired third NSMQ trophy. The emphatic victory sends a strong warning to the remaining competitors in the tournament as the Cape Coast giants prepare for the ultimate showdown in the upcoming Grand Finale.
