On July 30, 2026, the Court of Appeal unanimously acquitted and discharged Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, the former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC). In a 94-page judgment, the appellate court completely overturned her April 2024 High Court conviction and 10-year prison sentence. The judges ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the charges of stealing and causing financial loss to the state beyond a reasonable doubt, and determined that the trial court had lost sight of the fundamental presumption of innocence. This dramatic legal reversal comes just weeks after her high-profile extradition from the United States back to Ghana.
