The 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz is moving its highly anticipated grand finale to the capital. Primetime Limited officially launched this year's championship with 174 senior high schools competing for the prestigious national title.
The early phases of the competition, including the ongoing knockout stages, are currently taking place at the University of Cape Coast. The quarter finals and semi finals will also take place on that campus. Following the semi finals, the remaining contestants will depart Cape Coast on Friday, September 4, to prepare for the ultimate academic clash.
The grand finale is officially scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2026. The University of Ghana will host the final three schools in Accra as they battle for the national trophy and massive cash prizes.
The stakes for the finale are incredibly high. The winning school will receive a grand prize of GH¢80,000 sponsored by the Ghana Education Service. This amount will be shared, with GH¢40,000 going to the school, GH¢20,000 to the contestants, and GH¢20,000 to the teachers. The first place runner up will take home GH¢64,000, while the second place school will receive GH¢50,000.
